With its theme, “Balik Tanaw or Glimpse of the Past,” Samar Leyte Texas (SLT) recent celebration of 25 dedicated years of service honored the many people who contributed in making its waves of successful partnerships with communities, direct services provided to its beneficiaries in the Philippines and building its image as one of the most reliable non-profit organizations in Texas and in America.
More than 550 guests graced the event at the massive and elegant venue of the Stafford Centre. Adorned by glitzy and glamorous guests, the open bar before and after dinner became the main attraction of the event. Many guests considered SLT’s celebration as their venue to reunite with friends and families. SLT named their outstanding supporters and sponsors. Superb entertainment was provided by Houston’s top notch local entertainers.
Stafford Center was brought down by the live boy band performance of The Dreamboats. A craving for the classis music of the 60s brought the audience get up on their feet to dance and enjoyed every beat of the songs. The Dreamboats is composed of Chris Hummel - Lead Vocals/Rhythm Guitar; Gianmarco Fiacconi - Drums/Vocals; Justin Zoltek - Bass Guitar/Vocals, and Benjamin Thomas - Lead Guitar.
In an exclusive interview by One Philippines VP for Editorial and Development, Ryan Tejero with The Dreamboats, Chris Hummel said that “it’s our first time to perform in Houston and we are very excited and humbled by the warm reception of the Filipino Americans here in Houston. We are performing the sounds of the 50s and 60s. We hope they like it.
In his message after the event, One Philippines CEO and Publisher stated that “We are so proud to be part of the 25 years celebration of SLT in serving the community. We learn about their projects both here in the US and in the Philippines. We wish them a happy anniversary and may they continue to impact many lives here and abroad.”
SLT President Jon Logronio expressed his gratitude to everyone who shared the 25 years anniversary gala and encouraged everyone to continue to support SLT in the many years to come. He left a strong commitment and message to everyone, “SLT continues its mission to educate, empower and uplift communities, one remarkable success story at a time.”
