Beaumont, Texas – On July 28, 2024, the Philippine Association of Beaumont Texas (PABT) held its first-ever Welcome Dinner for Newcomers, warmly embracing newly arrived Filipinos in Southeast Texas. The event, which took place at the home of Vice President Cristy Joy Burnham, was a resounding success and served as a testament to PABT’s commitment to building a supportive and inclusive Filipino community.
The dinner provided an opportunity for newcomers to connect with long-time residents, share experiences, and find a sense of belonging in their new environment. President Japs Cauilan delivered an inspiring speech, underscoring the importance of community support, especially for those who have made the challenging journey from the Philippines to the United States, often with little more than the company of their partners.
The event was made possible through the generous support of key community partners. Tito Rudy Bermudez and his wife from Rudy’s Kabob, Tita Emelyn and Tito Leo Munda of the Banal na Espiritu Choir, Dr. Anita Franks of Beaumont ISD, and the ever-supportive Ms. Catherine Altamerano of Sachi’s Cakes and Desserts Lab, all played pivotal roles in ensuring the evening’s success. Ms. Altamerano, a cherished friend of the community, once again demonstrated her unwavering commitment to PABT’s initiatives.
This Welcome Dinner not only highlighted the PABT administration's dedication to fostering a sense of unity among Filipinos in Southeast Texas but also reinforced the association’s mission to create a community where everyone feels welcomed and supported. As PABT continues its efforts, this event stands as a shining example of what can be achieved through collective goodwill and a shared sense of purpose.
